We are very excited to announce that GloMinerals Makeup has arrived at M Bird Studio! As always, we will be offering full makeup services for brides, events, or a special night on the town. In addition, a small selection of GloMinerals makeup will be available for purchase. And just in case you’re wondering, here’s why we’ve fallen in love with the line:
The base formulas are EXCELLENT for all skin types, from normal to sensitive to acne prone. Most contain no fragrance, dyes, parabens, or gluten-derived ingredients!
They do NOT test on animals – of course we love that!
They’re known for their extensive color palette, and have consistently released neutral shades for the natural girl, as well as vibrant, on-trend shades for the true fashionista!
The latest from Jen Bender! Caryn wanted to go just a step further with her very trendy haircut. The results were fantastic – Of course, it doesn’t help that she’s pretty much the cutest person on Earth!
Just so you can get a little taste of the man behind the mask. Davines Mask Color, that is! Sorry, I HAD to throw it in there. Corny jokes aside though, Davines has just released this video of Artistic Director Angelo Seminara discussing the flamboyage technique, and his new color collection, Flamboyance Diva. Check it out!
We are beside ourselves with adoration for this fantastic new color technique. Invented by Davines Artistic Director and two-time British Hairdresser of the Year Angelo Seminara, this innovative approach to color has completely changed the way we work with hair.
What is it? The short explanation goes like this:
A long strip, called a Flamboyage meche is applied to the hair
The client walks away with a gorgeous, natural, looks-like-she-was-born-with-it highlight!
We’ve had rave reviews so far and we’re all very excited about it. It’s perfect for a natural looking highlight for summer, but it can also be done with vivid and nontraditional colors. Mostly, it allows our stylists and clients maximum creative freedom, which makes it a must-try for almost anyone interested in color.
This month, in honor of Valentine’s Day (I know, I knowwww) we welcome a very special, limited-edition scent from Davines! With notes of lavender, black currant, and mint, this unisex scent has all of us swooning.
In February, purchase any two pieces from the LOVE collection, and receive a complimentary bottle of this seductive scent!
Happy January! It’s Friday the 13th, 2012, so get your running shoes on,’cause the rumor mill of conspiracy theorists says it’s going to be a rough day. We’re still here though, and itching with excitement about the upcoming year!
Things to expect from us in 2012:
More exciting art/music/and events! Charity events, pet photography, live paintings, more singer/songwriters, shadow boxes, trunk shows, and who knows what else? Something you’d like to see? Let us know!
Apocalyptic Specials: Are you torn apart with anxiety about December 21,2012? Never fear! M Bird has everything you need for an apocalyptic lockdown: wine & beer, tootsie pops, and a scissor wielding team of talented stylists! Plus, we have a real live Mayan on staff available for consultations on what’s to come.
The New Culver City Metro Train Stop It’s coming in March, or so we hear – the first train line from Downtown to the Westside! Plus, two new restaurants are in the works for the Helms Bakery Complex. Keep your eyes open for new developments in the surrounding area!
Sooooo excited: Our blog is now fully integrated with our website! Check it out. http://www.mbirdstudio.com/blog
Also, I really wanted to give a shout out to all the amazing musicians and artists that we’ve had the pleasure of working with thus far in our journey! The past two Saturdays, we’ve been lucky enough to have some extremely talented individuals playing for us here in the salon. We’re always looking for new and interesting things to bring to our clients, and this series, Singing on Saturdays, has proved to be quite popular!
Many thanks to musicians Natasha Suzuki, Angelica Aguilar, Kyle Whitney, Vanessa Price, and Johnnie Roll for gracing us with their lovely vocals this month. Check out pictures below.
For those who have yet to experience this, be forewarned: We LOVE dogs. Big, little, messy, and prim – we really do love them all. You may not realize, but our very name was inspired by a dog! Yes, it’s true, Bird was a dog, and Jen is a dog-lover. We thought we’d start a section devoted to the canines who visit us here (and yes! We now have treats at the desk for them!). Below are a few shots of dogs who have stopped by to lounge and lick our faces. Stay tuned for a section on our Facebook page for these furry friends of ours!!
Jen’s dogs, Fox, Vinnie, and Einstein
Vinnie likes long walks on the beach and California sunsets
Fox likes tummy rubs and treats
My Surrogate Dog
Actually he’s my roommate’s dog, Bruce.
He likes causing trouble, eating people food, and defending his mom from would-be attackers.
This is Pete!
He’s the most laid-back dog ever. Brianne rescued this Greyhound from his racing days!
Also, stay tuned for a charity event we’ll be doing in the new year to support canines everywhere!
